Overseas Research Centers

The KMI aims to develop into a world-class research institute by engaging in joint research activities and exchange programs with prominent overseas universities, research institutes and international organizations, bringing Korea's development knowledge to the global stage.

China Research Center

The China Research Center was established in 2005 to collect, analyze and distribute information related to shipping, ports and logistics in China.
The Center contributes to Korea’s policy-making vis-a-vis China in the areas of shipping, ports and logistics.

Major Responsibilities
  • Research, study and consulting on China’s shipping, port and logistics trends
  • Analyze global logistics trends by understanding the logistics activities of multinational companies operating in China
  • Organize forums and invite Chinese experts and expatriate experts working in China as speakers
  • Establish a human resources network with industry, academia, research institute and the government of China
Core Research Tasks
Joint research and establishment of network

The center aims to establish a joint logistics network between Korea and China through the signing of MOUs with logistics-related research institutes in China and engaging in joint research activities.

Analysis of logistics issues in China

The center analyzes core issues related to logistics in China. More than 10 reports are published annually as results of the analysis.

Organization of KMI-Shanghai Logistics Forum and Workshop

The center organizes events on logistics and logistics trends in China including the KIM-Shanghai Logistics Forum (once a year) and the KMI-Shanghai Logistics Workshop (twice a year)
