Summary
The logistics barriers in Central Asia can be specified into physical (e.g., connecting transport links and logistics facilities) and non-physical barriers (e.g., customs, regulations, and banking systems). Based on the literature review and site study, we identify that the physical logistics barriers have been improved by the aids and investments of Central Asian governments and international countries. However, the non-physical logistics barriers still remain as major issues among the logistics companies entering Central Asia.
Based on the expert survey and survey to Korean logistics companies entering Central Asian logistics market, inefficient customs clearance in Central Asia is the top priority to be removed. The second issue is logistics network connectivity to provide seamless logistics service in the region.
Nevertheless, many Korean logistics companies would like to enter the logistics market in Central Asia because of the market potential of logistics business in Central Asia.
