○파벨 쿠라첸코(Павел Кураченко) 러시아 항공우주군 담당 부사령관(первый заместитель главкома ВКС России генерал-лейтенант)은 2021년 말까지 북극 지역에 적어도 4개의 군용비행장을 재건할 계획이라고 밝혔습니다.
그는 “앞으로 우리는 북극 군용비행장 건설에 우선순위를 둘 것이며, 2021년 말까지 우크라인까(Украинка), 바르꾸따(Воркута), 틱시(Тикси), 아나디르 (Анадырь) 등 폐쇄되었던 4개의 비행장을 재건할 것이다.” 라고 언급하였는데요.
지난 몇 년간, 러시아 군은 북극의 낙후된 비행 시설을 개선시키며, 군사 시설 설비 및 북극 쓰레기 청소 등 적극적인 활동을 펼쳐왔습니다.
북극에 대한 나토(NATO)의 관심이 커짐에 따라, 러시아는 북극에서 자국의 이익을 수호하기 위한 움직임을 더욱 적극적으로 보이고 있습니다.
