∘ 머스크 라인(Maersk Line)의 예인선 자회사인 스비처(Svitzer)는 세계 최초로 완전 원격 조종이 가능한 예인선 RECOTUG를 자율운항 기술 개발업체인 노르웨이 콩스버그(Kongsberg), 미국 선급협회(ABS: American Bureau of Shipping) 등과 공동으로 개발한다고 발표했음
- 스비처는 운항 솔루션을 제공하고, 콩스버그는 원격제어시스템과 자율운항기술, ABS는 주요국 규제 당국의 승인을 얻는 데 필요한 기술 검증을 수행할 예정임
- 머스크 라인은 장기적으로 코펜하겐항에서 RECOTUG의 상업 운항을 하는 것을 목표로 함
∘ 스비처는 2017년 동적 위치 유지 시스템(DPS: Dynamic Positioning System)을 갖춘 28m 길이의 예선 'Svitzer Hermod'로 원격조종 시연을 시행한 바 있음
- 동 선박의 센서로 수집한 운항 데이터를 선륙간 통신을 통해 육상으로 송신하고, 이러한 정보를 바탕으로 리모트 오퍼레이션 센터(ROC: Remote Operation Center)에서 선장이 조종을 실시했었음
- Svitzer Hermod 원격 조종의 경우 예상치 못한 사태에 대응하기 위해 선내 선원이 승선하여 완전 원격 조종은 아니었음
∘ 이번 RECOTUG의 경우 육상 지원 센터로부터 상당 거리 떨어진 ROC에서 원격 조종이 이루어지는 데다가 선원이 1명도 승선하지 않는 완전 원격 조종의 형태로 운항이 이루어질 예정임
