- 이에 해조류 가공품 생산 기업은 원자재를 안정적으로 조달하기 위한 차원에서 다양한 자구책을 마련하여 추진 중임
- 후지코(Fujico)社는 훗카이도 다시마의 품질(쫄깃하고 탄력있는 식감)을 유지하면서 노동집약적인 가공공정(분류 및 건조)을 자동화(자동 절단 및 냉동)하는 전략을 꾀함
* 훗카이도는 일본 다시마 생산의 약 90% 이상을 차지하는 가운데, 지난 30년간 다시마 생산량이 3분의 1 수준으로 감소함. 이는 다시마를 출하 후 분류 및 건조하는 노동집약적 작업을 수행할 인력이 부족한데 기인함
- 해조류를 활용한 의약품을 생산하는 리켄 비타민社도 종묘 생산 노하우 개발, 종묘 탈락 방지 연구 등 이와테현의 지속가능한 해조류 양식 생산을 위한 지원을 추진 중임
