- 태국, 포르말린에 오염된 수산식품 적발
- 태국 소비자단체에 따르면, 최근 태국에서 유통되는 수산식품 다수에서 포르말린이 검출된 것으로 나타났습니다.
태국 건강증진재단(ThaiHealth)의 지원 하에 태국 살라슈(Chaladsue) 소비자 매거진은 2023년 4월 태국 내 시장 8곳, 백화점 및 쇼핑센터 4곳과 온라인 유통채널 2곳에서 오징어 제품 샘플을 무작위로 수집하여 포르말린 검사를 실시했는데요.
발표에 따르면, 총 14개 샘플 중 8개 샘플(57.14%)이 포르말린에 오염된 것으로 나타났습니다. 이 중 온라인 쇼핑몰(Shopee)에서 판매되는 샘플 1개에서 1,576.63㎎/㎏로 포르말린 농도가 가장 높은 수치로 검출되었습니다. 이 밖에 다른 샘플에서도 1,238.63㎎/㎏, 1,072.17㎎/㎏의 고농도가 검출되어 태국 내 유통되는 오징어 제품 안전성에 대한 우려가 제기되고 있는데요.
태국은 「유해물질법 B.E. 2535」에 따라 포름알데히드 용액 또는 포르말린을 유해물질 2종으로 지정하여 「식품법 B.E. 2522」에 의해 식품에 사용이 금지되며, 유독물질을 식품에 사용하는 것이 적발될 경우 2년 이하의 징역 및/또는 2만 바트(한화 약 74만 원) 이하의 벌금이 부과될 수 있습니다.
하지만 태국에서는 오징어 제품의 신선도를 유지하고 보존기간을 늘리기 위해 사용하는 것으로 알려져 있는데요. 이에 따라, 태국 보건부 및 식품의약청은 소비자를 대상으로 포르말린 오염 징후가 보이는 수산물 섭취를 자제할 것으로 권고하고 섭취 전 세척하도록 안내하고 있습니다.
