As the domestic and international competition between ports has intensified recently, port marketing has become increasingly important to the port competitiveness. In order to develope the ports of Pusan and Kwangyang as hub ports in the North-east Asian region, the Korean government makes every effort to enhance the port competitiveness through the improvement of facilities and efficient operation. In this regards, marketing is of the immediate necessity in Korean container ports.

In this study, existing theories of port marketing were reviewed. This study also surveyed the status quo of port marketing in Korea and marketing strategies of foreign container ports. Then, based on the analysis of SWOT(strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) of Korean container ports, 4P`s strategies of port marketing mix were formulated and recommended.
