Recently, our fisheries consumption is gradually shifting from the traditional pattern toward the new one focusing on a taste, nutrition, health, convenience and so on.
And these factors are also influencing the consumption of raw fish. As for fisheries products vulnerable to be spoiled, freshness, colour etc. can cause the impact on this consumption trend. A result of demand function analysis shows that Fisheries consumption trend can be affected by the hazard information. Cholera information, which was used as a proxy variable of the hazard information, has the negative (-) impact on the consumption of all raw fishes, while has the positive (+) impact on the beef consumption. This result is almost the same with the existed expectation that these kinds of hazard information can decrease the consumption. From the real consumption market, we can also see the phenomenon that once the hazard information such as cholera etc. gets started, the consumption declines sharply and the market shipment even stops. |
